Child in traditional dance dress

Saw the kids doing their dance class again today. I only teach twice on Wednesday, giving me massive quantities of time to get on with some drawing. Can't complain frankly, I doubt I'll ever have another job like this later in life.
I stood in as they beat their drums, some of the children stood at the back practicing their technique with the hats while the other kids worked on the rhythm. It's really fascinating to watch, I really love the hats.
Here's a portrait of one of my 4th graders wearing the head gear.

Dance class

Needless to say really but it's fairly clear I'm not having problems producing work at the moment. What I find interesting is the striking division between the clothes the children are wearing in relation to the hats. Koreans of all ages wear westernized clothes often containing English words and phrases, and it always looks a little odd watching the kids practice in their hoodies and tracksuits.

Changdong Shopping District

I keep coming back to this area I think because the buildings and structures are unusually low for a Korean city, particularly when compared with the district where I live. This shopping area stretches downhill and is a hive of activity nearly all day. Even at 10pm you see high school girls walking around with their boyfriends arm in arm. This is really striking to me, maybe because they aren't out drinking or inflicting damage on something, which would probably be the case if it was a European city.

Reportage - Changdong Market

I'm in super prolific mode at the minute, but I've had a lot of canceled classes at school lately and plenty of time to work on my observation drawing. I was walking through this section of Masan in the rain when I noticed all the lamps lining the roads. Really liked the contrast in the colours.

Reportage - Fish Quay Changdong

Happened to like the way the buildings were just sitting to the right of the water here and thought it would make a good image. I'm not entirely satisfied with the colours, I think I used too many. I blasted the contrast up in Photoshop to bring the stark whites out and I think this has added to the composition nicely.

Reportage - Korean Store Front

In one of my towns there's a small newsagents that has a massive medley of stuff just sitting outside and this has always fascinated me. The inside is really dark and the woman just sits in the corner watching TV as she waits for customers. She always knows I want a coke so more often than not she just jumps up and gets one out the fridge for me.
Anyway here's the store front.

Moog Sythnesizers

Continuing my Moog theme I've done images of several of the main synths in the Moog range, the Voyager, the Prodigy and the Modular.
The Modulars were the colossal ones used by the likes of Wendy Carlos, and she pioneered the development of these.
The Voyager is used by many bands including Daft Punk who always tour with them.
Liam Howlett took the name "Prodigy" and used it for his band. He started out on one and still uses it.
